1080的回憶
The cancer sufferer who spent six nights protesting on Mount Tongariro says he had a lot of supporters turning up.
Chris Short came down last night, after spending six nights in cold and wet conditions.The Taupo man who says he was willing to die on the slopes of Mount Tongariro, is happy with what he has achieved.
The fifty-year-old did it in a bid to get national exposure for a documentary about 1080 poison called 'Poisoning Paradise'.
He says he cut short his protest because of concerns raised by local iwi. Chris Short says he believes both TVNZ and TV3 want to air the documentary. However the two networks have told our newsroom they have no plans to do so at the moment.
It is not Chris Short's first high profile protest action. In 1995 he was jailed for two years after hijacking a helicopter at gunpoint, when he suspected three men on board were dropping 1080 pellets.
